10 MUST TRY “FAVORITES NI KUYA J”

I was invited to the “meet and greet with Jericho Rosales ” event at Kuya J Restaurant in SM City-Bacolod. During the gathering, we were made to try again their dishes dubbed as Favorites ni Kuya J.

Most of these dishes, I have tried already, and admittedly I like it. So let me share with you the 10 MUST TRY “FAVORITES NI KUYA J.”

1. Kuya J Lumpia Presko

Lumpia Presko is an appetizer made of sauteed crabmeat shoots filling rolled in a malungay-infused wrapper (hence the green-colored wrapper). It comes with lettuce and of course with garlic sauce. Price-Php 75.

2. Kuya J Grilled Scallops 

Another great appetizer which Kuya J boast of is the grilled scallops with cheesy butter topping. Price – Php 165.

3. Kuya J Crispy Pata

Crispy Pata is a Filipino dish consisting of deep fried pig trotters or knuckles served with a soy-vinegar dip. Served with a soy-vinegar dip. It can be served as party fare or as a main dish. Price- Regular PHP 380; Family PHP 600.

4. Kuya J Kare-kare

Kare kare is a Philippine stew complimented with a thick, savory peanut sauce. It is made from a base of stewed oxtail (sometimes this is the only meat used), pork hocks, calves feet, pig feet, beef stew meat, and occasionally offal or tripe. Price – Php 260.

5. Crispy Catfish

Crispy Catfish is a battered deep fried catfish seasoned with spices. The dish is served with chili vinegar sauce and bagoong mayo. Price-Php 325.

6. Relyenong Talong

Filipino-style omelet with pan-fried eggplant with egg, ground pork and some veggies. Price – Php 95.

7. Binagoongan Rice Platter a

fried rice flavored with bagoong or shrimp paste, topped with pork humba meat, green mangoes, bell pepper and red onions. Price -PHP 195.

8. Kuya J Danggit Rice

Fried rice flavored with danggit  ( “sun-dried” or “sun-baked” rabbitfish ) bits, chives and topped with crispily fried danggit. Price Php 170.

9. Kuya J Tablea Coffee Flan

Batangas tablea flavored flan with coffee caramel topped with dried coconut sprinkles and cream.  Price -Php 65.

10. Kuya J Mango Pandan

Mango Pandan is a classic dessert which uses mango and pandan flavored gelatine in a thick cream sauce. And look at their presentation. Price – Php 55.

When we dine, we usually order also for some drinks, but I always love to order for Kuya J Fruit Shakes. Price – Kuya J Special Fruit Shake, PHP 95 and for other flavors such as Ripe Mango, Cucumber, Cantaloupe, Water Melon, Pineapple -PHP  85.

  2. We only tried Kuya J’s kare kare before and we liked it very much. Next time we will try the grilled scallops with danggit rice. 🙂 Yummy! One order is good for sharing.

  3. They do have unique Filipino treats here. Kuya J can really give you a lot of tasty options that’s perfect for the Filipino taste bud.

  4. If I were to choose among those included in your must-try list, I would choose the lumpia presko, danggit rice, and the tablea coffee flan.

  5. I love Kuya J!!! My favorites there include the baked scallops, Kare-Kare and Danggit rice!

    I cant get over Kuya J’s halo-halo! its so unique especially the crushed creamy ice which tasted like macapuno with bits and slices of tasty saba . i dont eat talong but Kuya J’s creation of tortang talong made me ask for more. crispy pata is also a winner, soft and crunchy without the “umay” feeling. the sisig rice is also perfect. I ate there twice already and next time im gonna try other pinoy dishes.
