Tourist Spots and Things to do in Cagayan de Oro
Here’s the recommend Cagayan de Oro Travel Guide
White Water Rafting
One of the best activities I did enjoy the last time I visited the city of the golden friendship. Lay on your rash guard and feel the thrill of white water rafting in the beautiful and spectacular Cagayan de Oro River, and give away the fun of nature at its wildest! They offer rafting trips ranging from the beginner’s class – which covers class 1-2 rapids – to advance tracks, which comprehend the more difficult class 3-4 rapids. And these trips are provided throughout the yr.
Nearly all hotels and Inns in Cagayan de Oro can connect you with the companies offering this natural process.

Macahambus Hill Cave
Macahambus Cave is situated just about 4 km south of the city’s airport; this cave was a strategic location to several wars in the 20th C. It is a three-chamber – two-way cave, one end is beside the highway, and the other exit is on a cliff overlooking the Cagayan de Oro River.
Macahambus Adventure Park
The Macahambus Adventure Park is planned to be an alternative park catering to extreme sports enthusiasts. While at the park, you can immerse in the full glory of nature, walk in the midst of gigantic century-old trees and swing from the summit of a deep, narrow passage with steep rocky sides, giving you a different perspective of the majestic Macahambus gorge. For a thrilling experience of the entire canyon in full, take a deep breath and cross the Sky Bridge, which extends for 135 meters across a height of 150 feet, which affords you the most commanding view of the gorge in all its resplendence. If you’re attending for more adventure, why not try rappelling down the gorge itself for that once-in-a-lifetime rush; experience the thrill of slowly making your room downward into the woodland floor and facing upwards to the canopy of trees from a completely fresh position.
For that ultimate, heart-thumping, adrenaline-laced thrill, the 120-meter Zip Line (slide-for-life) is the proper thing for you. The thrill of hanging from a heavy-duty cable at an elevation of 150 feet is incomparable – but sliding through the same line across the two edges of a gorge is nothing short of stimulating.

Jamon de Cagayan
Cagayan de Oro is known for its delicious leg hams, which go through a lengthy process of natural smoking and salt curing. Jamon de Cagayan is usually packed in a recycled katcha bag.
A side trip to Del Monte Pineapple Farm, Bukidnon
The Del Monte pineapple plantation is 15 kilometers uphill Cagayan de Oro, in Camp Philips, Bukidnon. Manolo Fortich is the boundary town of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. It’s 30 minutes out by coach or Van from Cagayan de Oro City proper. It is nice to take photos with Camp Phillips’ American style housing project. This was made by the Americans (former owners of Del Monte) for Del Monte employees. The giant pineapple figure built along the road junction is a preferred spot for pictorials. No demand to seek permission from Del Monte. The pineapples are just on the road and stretch until the skyline. Do not forget to visit the Del Monte Golf Course and Country Club in Kawayanon, which is not far from Camp Phillips.

Side Trip to Dahilayan
Conquer your fear with the Dahilayan Adventure Park’s Zip Line. Their dual zip line still has the record of Asia’s longest dual zip line. Other activities you may enjoy in the place include ATV riding, The Zorbit, Luge Kart Driving, Horseback Riding, Giant Wet Slide, Tree House, and many more. The Dahilayan Forest Park is located 4,700 feet above sea level and is about a 1½ hour drive from Cagayan de Oro City.
Getting to Dahilayan
From CDO, take the Buda (Bukidnon-Davao) Highway then turn right on the Alae Junction (which is about a kilometer past the quarantine stop). Go straight, passing through Camp Phillips, through their soccer field to your right and the Del Monte Pineapple Plantation. Just continue until you reach Dahilayan Forest Park. You will see several directional signs on the way to guide you. You can hire a car from Cagayan de Oro City to quickly hit the station.
Getting To Cagayan de Oro for the Tourist Spots
The quickest mode to go to Cagayan de Oro is by airplane. There are flights from Manila and Cebu daily through airlines: Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, Philippine Airlines, and other airlines such as Asian Spirit that have small planes. On that point are also ferry boat trips and fast crafts from Manila, Cebu, Dumaguete, and other urban centers. Buses for those who are barely within the Mindanao area are likewise usable.
