8 MUST-TRY DISHES AT 18TH STREET PALA-PALA

We were invited recently to sample various dishes from 18th Street Pala-pala Restaurant. I have tried the restaurant many times in the past, and I love their food.

Located at 18th Street, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, the seafood restaurant offers a wide array of Filipino and seafood dishes. They have three air-conditioned function rooms which can be used exclusively for meetings and other events. They also have a sizeable al-fresco dining area which is perfect especially during night time.

One would think that the price at 18th Street Pala-pala is high, but it’s not. They have their turo-turo and the a la carte which is similar to the central Pala-pala market wherein you choose the main ingredients such as fish, and they will cook it as you desire. Most of their dishes are priced on a per kilo basis. Usually, a kilo of seafood can already serve up to 10 persons. Well, if you look at the price on a per kilo basis would appear to be high, but if you order a quarter or half a kilo, you will realize that it’s reasonable If not cheap.

Here are the eight must-try dishes at 18th Street Pala-pala that’s Top on my list:

  1. PEPPERED SHRIMP

At first, this dish doesn’t look exciting because the spices used appeared to be dark or black like in color. But the moment you tried it, you can’t help but go back- merely addicting. Price – PhP  1,070/kilo

  1. STEAMED SHRIMP IN LEMON BUTTER SAUCE

7. CALAMARI WITH SPECIAL SAUCE

Calamari is a great appetizer or pulutan.  The rings of calamari come from the body of the squid, also called the mantle, which is cut across the length of the body. One of the most common preparations for calamari rings is coating the rings in flour though sometimes batter is used instead, and then lightly frying them until crispy and cooked through.  PHP 560/kil

8. SISIG

Sisig is, or sizzling sisig is a popular pulutan in the Philippines. There other versions of sisig like chicken tuna sisig. But the best, of course, is the pork which is marinated in a sour liquid such as lemon juice or vinegar, then seasoned with salt, pepper, nd other spices. PHP 110/serving
