9 MUST TRY RESTAURANTS IN PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN

Dining is always part of any travel and vacation. In my latest trip to Puerto Princesa Palawan, I took the opportunity to try as many dining places as I can. Here’s the  9 must try Restaurants in Puerto Princesa, Palawan that’s  top on my list:

1. KALUI RESTAURANT

Experience the all bamboo restaurant and go barefoot while at Kalui Restaurant. Before feasting on their food, you can entertain first yourself visually with the paintings & other ethnic and indigenous artworks decorating the place.  In some areas of the restaurant, the tables are low and you can sit with crossed legs like the Japanese. You can also see the kitchen and watch how the cooks prepare the food.

Kalui Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes. But their seafood and vegetables which include sashimi, tempura, shellfish soup, sinigang, baked mussel and much more are a must try.  In order to make your dining experience a happy one, better to make a prior reservation to make sure that you will have a table when you arrive

2.LA TERASSE

La Terrasse takes pride of the quality of their food by not using any additives or powders or cubes and definitely no MSG. They claimed that as much as possible they use only the freshest ingredients. Most of the vegetables they used are sourced from organic growers or from their own organic gardens.Their Pata Tim with mushroom is a must try.La Terrasse also offers a place that is cozy and relaxing and they have good service as well.

3. CAPTAIN RIBS

When visiting this place one must try their specialty of the house – the back ribs. Their servings are really huge that goes with the price of course. Captain Ribs has a nice, cozy place with an al fresco dining area, and good music…just a lovely place to spend a relaxed evening.

4. THE GYPSY’S LAIR ART CAFE RESTAURANT

The Gypsy’s Lair Art Cafe Restuarant offers Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Spanish and Mexican cuisines. Located at Mercado de San Miguel. It’s right beside stores that sell Palawan pearls & delicacies. The place also offers fresh fruit juices and smoothies alongside spiked cocktails; English and Oriental teas, and regional and home-grown cafe delights.  The Gypsy’s is loaded with art pieces created by local artists in the area and of course by the owner who is also an artist. Aside from decorating the place the art pieces are also for sale. Live bands entertain the guests during night time.

5. KINABUCH BAR AND GRILL

Situated on the main road – Rizal Avenue where you can find the most restaurants and cafes. Kinabuch has a sports bar setup, a projector, and an extra-large screen. Great for watching your favorite Basketball team. It has a  huge dining area with indoor and outdoor seating. The place also offers some exotic food like crocodile sisig and the famous delicacy in Palawan – the tamilok.

The place is always full packed, hence if you want to be seated right away upon arrival, you must make a prior reservation.

6. BADJAO SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

While the place is a bit out of the way, I guess the place has it own charm which most guests like. Located at Abueg Road, the place is about 15 mins. tricycle ride from Puerto Princesa’s main streets. The long elevated access to the dining area is always a great surprise. Their large open-air pavilion is nice, breezy, and seemingly promised a good dining experience for every guest. Adding to the ambiance is the view of the sea. One may cross a bridge that connects the restaurant right into the sea.

7. DEEP FOREST WINE BAR AND RESTAURANT

This restaurant is good for foreigners who don’t like grilled or Filipino Cuisines. Deep Forest serves quality meats, cheeses and much more. Guests may also head to the wine cellar bar that guarantees a romantic tranquil evening. The place is surrounded by trees which radiate a relaxing atmosphere. Situated on Abueg Road, which is only 2.1 km (4 minutes) away from Puerto Princesa International Airport. Although the place is in a semi-secluded area, tricycles are available within the vicinity.

8. KA INATO

Ka Inato has nice ambiance with very colorful decors made of Palawan’s various icons. Apart from their food, one of the best features of the place for me are their deaf-mute employees.

9. PANGEA CAFE

Another restaurant catering for people who don’t like much the usual grilled Filipino food is the Pangea Cafe. They serve affordable International Cuisines like steaks, pizza, burgers and many more. Pangea Cafe is just right in Front of HTU and Balayong Pension House, heading towards Bay Walk from Rizal Avenue.
