TOP ON MY LIST: BRGY. GRANADA, 2015 MASSKARA’S GRAND CHAMPION

Masskara Festival Back to Back Champion, Brgy. Granada

TOP ON MY LIST:  BRGY. GRANADA, 2015 MASSKARA’S  GRAND CHAMPION

One of the main events in Bacolod’s Masskara Festival is the Arena and Street Dancing Competition. There’s the elementary and High School category which happened last  October 16 and the much anticipated Barangay Category last October 17.

The  Masskara Dance Competition begins with the Arena competition, which was held at Paglaum Sports Complex and followed by the Street Dancing Competition.

The Arena Dance Competition started at 1 PM, but I went to the venue at 12 NN to have a right spot. I joined the group of photographers and broadcast media people on their place right in front of the performance area.

Brgy. Granada’s combination of fantastic costume and props, impeccable performance and element of surprises made them on top of my list

Even before the event started, I knew that it would be fierce competition amongst the various groups, because it is evident that each group prepared and spent well on the game. Their costumes were fantastic, and if my estimate was right, I guess most of them paid no less than 6-7 thousand for each outfit. I covered the Masskara Festival every year, and each year the contingents keep on improving to get Grand Championship recognition.

And for 2015 Masskara Festival, Brgy. Granada won their back to back Championship in the Arena and Street Dance Competition. It was remembered that Brgy Granada got their first Championship Title at last year’s Masskara Festival. This group had even represented  Bacolod City in Hongkong last year.
