WHAT TO DO AT JOJO VITO DESIGNS GALLERY | BACOLOD CITY

“We’re just a small handicraft business that offers various services to our clients”. I usually reply to this in response to the many inquiries I’ve received on my blogs, Facebook page, and account about Jojo Vito Designs Gallery. For quite several years, the Jojo Vito Designs Gallery has been attracting visitors from other places. There were even times that we got busloads of guests – some were groups of students, corporate groups, Government Officials from Local Government Units from other places, and a lot more.

During the Masskara season and Panaad Festival, we receive many queries from people planning to visit Bacolod. Hence, I decided to write this article to guide those planning to visit Bacolod City.

“Let’s Fiesta”

The most common question I get is: Is there an entrance fee? No, there’s no entrance fee at Jojo Vito Designs Gallery. We are open Monday through Saturday (9 AM to 5 PM).

Like in some craft villages in the country, our small Gallery is in our home compound. We have converted our place into the entire gallery. So please don’t expect a grand place or building. The moment you enter our gate, you will see immediately our small main shop, which houses most of our stuff.

Because our gallery cannot accommodate all of our products, I was forced to convert one of our rooms to be an extension of our gallery.

So what are the possible things that you can do and see when visiting our place? Here’s the list:

Jojo Vito Designs Gallery Artists

  1. See our Artists in action

Our main workshop is located in Talisay City. However, we don’t accept guests visiting that place at this time. But in our Gallery in Bacolod, you will also see some artists in action: painters, sculptors, etc. We intentionally bring these people into our gallery for two reasons: first, to showcase the talents of our people as part of our offering, second, for me to work closely with my artists so that I can coach and brainstorm with them anytime. Whatever is our task for the day – that’s what you will see when you visit us.

You will also see our artists painting the masks in freestyle or our Finishers accessorizing the masks.

  1. Paint your own mask

One exciting interactive activity you can do when visiting Bacolod is to paint a mask. In our gallery, we sell plain mask carcasses and provide you with paints and brushes. If I am around, I will tell you the story about Bacolod and the Masskara Festival while you paint your own mask.

  1. Take your selfie in the sea of wearable and giant masks

In our front yard, we have a display of wearable and giant sizes of masks intended for our guests. You don’t have to buy anything from us to take your souvenir photo; your mere visit will delight us.

  1. Have your Party Masks Customized

For many years now, we have been producing party masks for various events like debuts, masquerade balls, beauty contests, product launches, and much more. Most of our masks are even exported abroad. So, if you just give us ample time, we customize a party mask for you.

5. Get a Mask as a decor

Some of our masks are intended for decors. We have framed or wall clock masks, etc., which are perfect as gift items or pasalubong. You can even have the masks as a tree decor — you can make your own Christmas tree 🙂

  1. Bring home a Table Top Masks

Most people wanted to give something as a gift which can be displayed prominently in the offices or homes of the recipients. Hence, we created various pieces of tabletop articles inspired by masks. These pieces come in various shapes and sizes. With enough lead time, we can even inscribe something on these pieces according to your request.

  1. Mask Leis, Ref Magnets, and Key Holders

Most organizations in Bacolod would normally request Leis that are Masskara-inspired. Instead of using flowers, many prefer these leis because they last long, and some people are allergic to fresh flowers. In the same manner, some people just wanted to bring small items that are iconic of Bacolod City. We have key holders and magnets that are very affordable, too.

  1. Know the story behind every piece.

Each of our pieces has a story to tell. You can simply ask our staff about the story and inspiration behind our creation. If I am present, I will personally do this…

  1. Mirrors

Apart from masks, our gallery is also known for its intricately designed and award-winning pieces. Most of these award-winning pieces are our mirrors.

We have several designs of Mother & Child and Father & Child sculptures in limited editions. This “Love” Collection, as I call it, was created as an expression of love for our parents. I’m sure everyone can relate to these pieces.

  1. Pato Ilahas (Wild Ducks)

My latest fascination is with the wild ducks. We call these ducks in Hiligaynon “Pato Ilahas”. This collection is a 3D fiberglass sculpture which comes in various renditions.
