Getting to Know Bataan and Its Tourist Spots 

The mountainous and hilly Bataan has reserved a unique set of activities for those who would like to explore the place. In as much as I would like to talk about the beauty of this place, I will be compelled to urge you to visit it to see for yourself merely. I am sure that after your visit, you will find your new favorite vacation destination.

The coastal area along with the mountainous part of the place makes it ideal for different sets of activities. That is why if we were to dwell about the dynamism of the place, this is unquestionable. Let us find out the different things to do in the province of Bataan.

Bataan Tourist Spots

  1. Dunsulan Falls

May it be swimming or picnic, the perimeter of the falls will be an ideal spot to relax during a hot sunny day.

2. Bagac Town

Bagac is the popular beginning spot or area of the infamous death march. Though now, a lot of well-developed beaches can be found in the area.

3. Final Battle Site Marker

This is attributed to the Bataan defenders who fought hard against hunger, sickness, and death. Such a courageous act served as an inspiration to a lot of people during the war era.

4. First Line of Defense Marker

Situated at Dinalupihan, this historical area marks the active line if the defense of the combined Filipino and American troops of soldiers during the Japanese invasion back in World War II. Be part of history as you go here and see the actual landmark.

5. Democracy Marker

This is located in between the boundary of Bataan and Pampanga. This historical area also marks the significant role that the province of Bataan played in fighting for the freedom of the country back in the Japanese occupation times.

6. Death March Marker at Orani

A massive statue which was built to commemorate and remember those who sacrificed themselves during the death march in World War II while they were heading to the prison camp.

7. Tomas Pinpin Monument

How about the first-ever Filipino printer? Yes, it was Tomas Pinpin who printed the earliest book in the country with the collaboration with Fr. Blancas de San Jose back in the year 1610. Thus, a monument to signify such achievement and accomplishment was built.

8. First Abucay Catholic Church

Considered as one of the oldest churches in the country, this historic church also houses the first-ever printing press. No wonder that people would go here to get a glimpse of such an old yet classy collection.

9. The Main Battle Position

Found in Abucay town, this place is the official Abucay-Morong line of the US troops during the battle. This is also the same place where the 2nd Lieutenant Alexander R. Miniger was awarded the Congressional Medal.

10. Abucay Municipal Building

A relic in fact due to its age. But looking at the place, it is a total representation of strength and bravery. It is the historical relic of one of the biggest towns in the province.

11. Bankal Settlement

This newly created barangay is being maintained by the Aetas. These people manage to keep the old tradition and culture.

12. Balanga Cathedral

This place marks the site used by the Japanese soldiers as their artillery bombardment towards the Filipino and American soldiers in Mt. Samat.

13. Camaliw and Kaytibog Falls

May it is for leisure or relaxation, these waterfalls will give you the natural yet satisfying feeling one could ever hope for.

14. Lamao World War II Marker

A place where you could get a glimpse of both the Corregidor and Manila Bay is also a historical landmark in this province.

15. Flaming Sword

A symbol of the courage and bravery of the Filipino in fighting for the freedom of the country.

16. Mt. Samat National Shrine

This was the scene of the most heroic defensive battle that occurred during World War II between the Japanese and the Filipino along with the American soldiers.

17. Battle of Trail II at Capot Hill

Another sacrificial point in the province is the Battle of Trail II since it marks the area where a lot of soldiers died in fighting for the freedom of the country.

18. Sitio Diwa

Though small, this village is brave and courageous in terms of fighting for their land during the time of oppression and colonization. This is a concrete example of no surrender type of community.

19. Fall of Bataan Marker at Balanga

The Fall of Bataan is a combination of bittersweet memories. This place marks the bitter fall of those who courageously fought the battle and those who sweetly gave their lives for the country.

20. Surrender Site Marker at Balanga

The surrender of Bataan and Corregidor was signed by the American Major General Edward King Jr. now; the place is located inside an elementary school.

21. Sibul Spring Nature Resort 

A sulfuric swimming pool p[aired with a vast area for outdoor recreation is what this place is all about. You can head here and enjoy the warmth of the spring.

22. Pasukulan Falls

This Bataan tourist spot is located at Mt. Natib, this natural wonder is left unexplored and yet, very worth the shot to visit. Feel the natural vibe of nature as you head here.

23. Maria Canon Statue

This is a repository spot for the Filipino soldiers who dies during the World War II era.

24. Philippine-Japan Friendship Tower

A place which signifies the peaceful and serene union of Japan and the Philippines. Though devastated from the war,  this event took place, and it is worth the tower.

25. Cayetano Arellano Marker

Situated in Orion, this place is also equally significant since it marks the birthplace of the first-ever Filipino chief justice of the entire archipelago.

26. BEPZA

A hub for exports of goods such as automobiles, dolls, and a lot more. In this place, the production is unlimited and goods are right away shipped to their respective destinations.

27. United Nation Refugee Center

Situated in the town of Morong, this temporary resettlement was used as a haven or temporary shelter for Indo-Chinese refugees as well as those who are coming from America, Europe, and other Pacific countries.

28. Bataan Nuclear Power Plant

With the complete facility yet non-working one, this powerplant could provide 620 megawatts of electricity. Though controversial in the aspect of using it, it is undeniable that the place is a manifestation of growth and development.

29. Pawikan Conservation Center

The Pawikan Conservation Center is located near Bataan Nuclear Power Plant in Morong, Bataan. The place is a community-based program dedicated to the rescue, protection, and propagation of pawikan or marine turtles.

30. Francisco Balagtas Monument

This was built as a place to honor and remember the contribution of the great Filipino poet and patriot, who could ever forget the earth-shattering story of Florante at Laura? Yes, that was his contribution.

31.Alangan River

This river holds a special part in history back in the times of the Japanese occupation. Do you see it? Everything about the province of Bataan is worth the visit.

32. Malasimbo

This is where a weather forecasting device is situated. This helps people predict the upcoming weather for the coming days and even weeks.

33. Battle of Toul Pocket Marker (Bagac)

This pocket of the battle marker served as a prelude to the final defense in Bataan. It managed to be a historical landmark due to its significant contribution to history.

34. Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

The place is a beautiful attraction in Bagac, Bataan. Covering 400 hectares, the resort features restored beautiful old houses with a total of 128 guest rooms.

35. Roosevelt National Park

This forest is used as an outdoor area for the Boy Scout Camporal whenever they have an outdoor activity such as camping and the likes.

36. Dambana ng Kagitingan

Also known as the Shrine of Valor situated at the top of Mt. Samat, this place reflects all the suffering of all the soldiers in the World War II era.

Heading to Bataan is like taking a glimpse of the rich and grandeur past of the country. If you more of the adventure and at the same time the educational type of tourist, then this is the best place for you.
