Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second largest city is known for beauty, charm, and hospitality. Chiang Mai is often referred to as Rose of the North having beautiful attractions and people that are waiting for every guest visiting the place.
Listed below are 10 Ways to Experience the Rose of the North:
One of the most exciting activities in Chiang Mai especially for the first time travelers is shopping. Being a handicraft capital of Thailand, Chiang Mai produces most of the handicrafts sold all over the country. Most of these handicrafts are sold at the Walking Street Market. One will surely be delighted how cheaply the artisans are selling their products. Painters are also waiting for guests who wanted to have their portraits done at a very low cost.
The place is also known as a Sunday Market as it is only open during Sunday nights starting from 4 in the afternoon until midnight.
The Walking Street Market is found right at the heart of the old walled city area of Chiang Mai. Starting at the Tha Phae Gate and run down at an approximately 1km, full length of Ratchadamnoen Road. Please remember to bring Thai Baht when you go shopping. Most money changers are close at night, so better have your money changed during the daytime.
Another favorite shopping spot in Chiang Mai is the Night Bazaar. The place is located on the east side of the old walled city. The Night Bazaar is open every day all year round. Unlike the Walking Street Market, there are many money changers even during night time.
