3 LIP SMACKING PERSONAL FAVORITES AT DAS BURGERY
Das Burgery (The Burgery) first caught my attention when I passed by the Mandalagan area and saw cars lining up and people packed inside a small store. I found out later that it was a burger joint. It opened last May 14, 2016, and is owned by the husband and wife tandem of Dodjie and Ched Cusi. Dodjie is a self-confessed burger lover and it was his dream to put up a place that could whip up different kinds of burgers to satisfy foodies like him.
His wife Ched recounts that whenever they travel abroad Dodjie would always look for a burger place to eat. His favorites are the ones in Chicago and New York. So when they finally decided to put up their own business they chose one that they know they would both enjoy doing. Das Burgery (Das means “The” in German) started out three years ago when they joined Ayala Mall’s (Talisay City) Weekend Market. When they opened the Diner last May Bacolod foodies were already familiar with Das Burgery and they already had quite a number of “suki”. The joint is inspired by the hamburger take-out counters and food stalls they saw from their travels abroad. The place may be small but the light wooden interior gives it a welcoming atmosphere. During peak hours monoblock chairs and tables are placed outside to accommodate the overflow of customers.
The menu is well researched by Dodjie himself. He studies and innovates creations that he can add to the list. Some may find the burger a bit pricey but it is worth the money since only 100% Angus Beef is used.
My 3 Lip Smacking Personal Favorites at Das Burgery
1.The BMO (Bacon & Mushroom Overload) Experience- a combination of two house specialties, (Pork Barrel and Lorenzo’s Way). It is packed with the thick Angus beef patty, lettuce, onion rings and tomatoes. It has a big strip of deep-fried bacon that is crunchy to the bite. (P180)
2.Steak Frites- a new addition to the menu which kids will also love. Large cuts of potato fries topped with tender choice cuts of steak, aioli (garlic) sauce, sauteed sliced mushrooms and caramelized onions. (P160)
3.Strawberry cheesecake– a pleasant surprise – it’s cheesecake ice cream in a cup, topped with small cuts of fruits. Dessert is Ched’s contribution to the menu and she conceptualized this nice dessert. What I like about it is the sweetness that is not overwhelming and just right for me. (P50)
Das Burgery is located at Monfort Building, Lacson St. Mandalagan Bacolod City. It opens 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
