I had been sharing my various coverage of different Filipino Festivals. So I decided to share with you the list of various Filipino Festivals for each month. Festivals of all kinds cover the entire Filipino Calendar. Filipinos are not only celebrating the feast of Saints, but also the cultural fests celebrating the culture of many places.
So far, here’s the Filipino Festivals I have listed for the month of February:
Bacalaodiat Festival – Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
Bacolaodiat festival is a celebration of the Chinese new year in Bacolod City. This one is one of the newest, most colorful and getting bigger each year.
Highlights of Bacolaodiat include the Dazzling Grand Parade, Lantern Parade, the Street Dancing Competition, Symphony of Lights and Sparks, and the Chopstick Alley that showcases both Filipino and Chinese Food.
Chinese New Year – Nationwide
Filipinos do recognize the influence and the existence of Filipino-Chinese in the country. The Chinese New Year has been considered a national holiday in the country. I think this fact speaks for itself. I bet you know the Dragon dance because it symbolizes the start of a Chinese new year not only in China but in the Philippines as well.
Babaylan Festival – Bago City, Negros Occidental
Babaylan means priestess. In Bago City, Negros Occidental, Babaylan Festival is held every 19th of February in Bago City, Negros Occidental. The public gets a rare view into the simulated rituals of mystics, ancient healers, and priests in various ceremonies such as marriage, healing, and harvest.
