Tarlac is a city who made many records in the Philippine history.History tells us that Tarlac   was one of the first eight provinces to revolt against the Spanish colonizers in the Philippine Revolution of 1896. The Philippine’s  first paper money and coins were issued from the province. Tarlac National High School is the first public high school in the country, founded in 1902 by the American colonial government. Tarlac Provincial Hospital, established in 1923, was the first provincial hospital in the country. And the first Miss Philippines (1953) in the person of  Ma. Christina Galang, came  from the province.
Tarlac is also home  to the Aquino Center,a museum dedicated in the lives and works of Ninoy and Cory Aquino .Tarlac is also  know for its pilgimage site, the Monasterio de Tarlac, home of the relic of the True Cross of Christ.
