Sinulog sa Kabankalan is Kabankalan City’s version of the famed Ati-Atihan Festival in the Philippines. Just like in most festivals in the country, Sinulog sa Kabankalan is characterized by the merry making with dancers painted with black soot. The Festival which is celebrated every 3rd week of January has many highlights. One of which is the search for the Negros Sinulog Queen which is participated by ladies coming from various cities and towns around Negros Island.

Last January 12, Sinulog sa Kabankalan crowned its new Queen. During the coronation night, 3 Top Beauties were declared as Negros Sinulog Queen 2017, First Runner-up and Second Runner-Up.Trickcy Concepcion from Sibulan , Negros Oriental was crowned as the Festival Queen, while Claire Therese Porras from Victorias City, Negros Occidental and Michelle Teves from Bais, Negros Oriental were named First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively.

 Sinulog Queen Candidate Number 10. Trickcy Concepcion

Negros Sinulog Queen 2017:  At the end of the pageant night ,Trickcy Concepcion from Sibulan , Negros Oriental, emerged as the most beautiful amongst the 10 lovely candidates for the 2017 Negros Sinulog Queen. Trickcy was also awarded as the Best Speaker Award which was based during the question and answer and Best in Long Gown Award.

Sinulog Queen Candidate Number 7. Claire Therese Porras

First Runner-up, Negros Sinulog Queen 2017:Calire  Therese Porras  from Victorias City, Negros Occidental won the  First Runner -Up and Best in Tribal Costume Awards.

 Sinulog Queen Candidate Number 6. Michelle Teves

Second Runner-up, Negros Sinulog Queen 2017: Bais City’s  (Negros Oriental) bet Michelle Teves claimed the Second Runner-up spot as well as the  Miss Congeniality (Miss Merzci) Award.

Carmel Zamora represented the Municipality of Amlan, Negros Oriental. Zynneth was awarded Miss Professionalism for the 2017 Negros Sinulog Queen.

Kabankalan City’s own candidate Tecia Tuquero won the following special awards: Globe Texter’s Choice Award; Miss Chicken Deli, and Miss Photogenic.

Jessa Hebolario represented  Valencia, Negros Oriental and bagged the Photographer’s Choice Award during the Negros Sinulog Queen 2017 coronation night.

Cadiz City’s ( Negros Occidental) candidate Princess Joy Gabiota won the Miss Talent Award.

Chainee Ang represented Sagay City, Negros Occidental and won the Best in Swimsuit Award.

ABOUT SINULOG SA KABANKALAN:

Sinulog sa Kabankalan, one of the most colorful festivals in Negros Island is held every third week of January. Sinulog sa Kabankalan is the city’s version of the famous Ati-atihan festival.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Kabankalan City is a little less than two hours drive by private car south of Bacolod City. The city can also be reached by public buses at an approximately two hours travel. Kabankalan City, which is considered as the center of economic activities in Southern Negros, also served as a link to Dumaguete City  Negros Oriental via Kabankalan-Mabinay route.
