5 BEST SELLERS OF RAU RAM CAFE
I first came to know about Rau Ram Café when I chanced upon their table offering Vietnamese specialties at a food fair in Metro Ayala mall. I later learned through word of mouth from satisfied customers and from social media that Rau Ram offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine and other popular Asian fusion menus and that it is known for its delicious and mouthwatering dishes. So what better way to know more about the place but to pay them a visit.
During my call, I met Ms. Sylvia Gerangue who is one of the owners (this place is co-owned by Mr. Andrew Cadayday). Rau Ram started as a small dining place located in a residential area in Bacolod City. They later moved to a bigger place right in front of the previous one to accommodate their growing clientele.
Ms. Sylvia said that she especially went to Vietnam to study and learn Vietnamese cooking. She is a teacher by profession but has found another passion by cooking yummy Vietnamese food for customers to enjoy.
Here are their top 5 best sellers which I sampled. They come in big servings that can be shared by two to three persons.
1. Pho Bo- tender beef chunks and rice noodles in a rich beef broth. It is served with an assortment of herbs, hoisin and hot sauce. (P197)
2. Buhn Thit Nuong Cia Gia- Rice noodle salad with grilled pork, lettuce, cucumber, carrots and ground nuts. A healthy dish everybody can enjoy. (P253)
3. Ca Kho To- sliced cat fish sautéed in herbs and spices with a zesty, sweetish flavor. (P175).
4. Ikan Bakar- Grilled bangus seasoned with Malaysian aromatic spices. This dish is influenced by the Portuguese since they once colonized Vietnam.
5. Cahng Ga Rang Me- chicken wings and thighs coated with tamarind sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. (P175)
