Climate change is indeed one of the scariest and most relevant issues the world is facing today. Many efforts have been done relative to this problem. Yet, its complexity brought about by many factors ranging from macro to micro activities cannot be answered by just a single solution.
Mother Earth cannot wait anymore for one major breakthrough to mitigate the problem of climate change.
I listed below 5 practical and workable technological developments to reduce climate change.
Most problems stem from the lack of education and information. The information drive can start from school wherein students will be made conscious from their early years about climate change.
Apart from the traditional media, engaging social media practitioners such as bloggers and social media influencers to spread the word will surely create the fastest and the largest coverage in information campaign drive to instill climate literacy which will ultimately form part of everyone’s lifestyle.
handicrafts using highly sustainable indigenous materials
The biggest influence in mitigation and adaptation to the climate change will come from the government’s macro policies. The dramatic institution of carbon taxes and allocating big budget on Geoengineering leading to the development of solar radiation management techniques which aimed at reducing the absorption of sunlight and the removal of Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
While doing these climate change mitigating activities, the government must also allocate budget in responding to the consequences of climate change such as building seawalls, or climate change preparedness awareness campaign, etc. Bigger players can also assist those in the third world countries who lacks the capacity in adapting to these environmental issues.
The Government can offer tax incentives for the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME ) producing handicrafts which use green materials and processes.
Any individual or family engagement done to combat climate change will surely contribute to a greater degree in mitigating climate change.
Patronizing public transportation, carpooling, walking, biking, will surely reduce carbon footprints.Other activities one can contribute to mitigating the problem may include recycling and waste composting; use green power, such as solar panels, LED lights, and utilizing more of natural lights into one’s space.
Organic Agriculture may include integration of trees into farming system can help carbon capture and biodiversity; it also lessens greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use by utilizing an appropriatecombination of organic fertilizers and good agricultural practice.
Organic agriculture provides not only healthy food but practices that can help farmers adapt to climate change using eco-friendly processes fitting to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with negative effects.
Tourism stakeholders must take an active role in the conservation of the environment.
Tourism is one great way to alleviate poverty in many areas. While tourism is one sector that is greatly affected by the global warming, it also serves as a contributor to the problem. Local government units must put in place strong policies on reef monitoring and wetlands conservation which are greatly affected by tourism activities especially the inadequate waste management system.
Giving the tourists the opportunity to compensate for the carbon produced in their taken flights by using flight calculators can generate more funds for projects in developing countries like renewable energy projects, planting more trees, etc.
While the list to technological development to reduce climate change and go on and on what is important right now are the workable activities which any individuals or organizations can do right away. Time is of the essence. We need to act now.

Well said! We're always being reminded by this statement: NATURE DON'T NEED US, BUT WE NEED NATURE! They're given to us by our Creator for free to help us live and enjoy its wonders, we must fight to protect and preserve them! Now, if we don't take part in the prevention of further damage to our environment ... one day, we'll all suffer the harsh effects of devastation brought about by our careless behaviour towards "Mother Nature".
The government --- including all the signatory member states worldwide of the Kyoto Protocol --- should strictly pass a mandate to educate everyone from preschoolers onward and a non-stop awareness campaign for this advocacy.
Climate change is very alarming...?
We need to preserve our mother earth not just for ourselves but also to the children of tomorrow. We need to act now before its too late. And today,I will start the change. I'll be more responsible with my actions. Thank you sir for this blog. It's very informative.
Very helpful. Can't agree more about doing little somethings today has great effect in the future than just sitting around and waiting for a major breakthrough.
Climate change is the greatest threat that the world faces. It is already affecting millions of lives and if left unchecked it will put many lives at risk. Thanks to you, Sir Jojo Vito, I am sure your work touched everyone’s heart and I strongly agree with you. We must act now. We must start doing right within ourselves to serve as model for everyone in order for them to realize that each one of us has a role in our society.
