We were treated recently to the newly opened Filipino restaurant at SM City-Bacolod, the Chikaan.
In an a nutshell, I find their food really delicious and reasonably priced.
I would like to rank their dishes according to my taste and what I have tasted only. I haven’t tasted yet all of their offerings and you may have your own personal favorites too. So feel free to tell me your thoughts by commenting at the bottom of this post.
1. Crispy Pata
Top on My List is this beautiful Crispy Pata. What you see is what you get. It’s crispy on the outside, yet juicy and tender on the inside. Of course, it’s perfect when dipped in vinegar, a little of soy sauce and spices. Price -PhP 375
Pochero Steak
2. Pochero Steak
Next to the Crispy Pata is this sinfully delicious Pochero Steak, made from a humongous cut of the beef shank with marrow, served in a sizzling plate and dripping with gravy. Just a warning, you should eat this dish immediately because the taste changes as it is exposed in the cold temperature of the airconditioned room. Price- PhP 399.
Chorizo de Cebu
3. Taking the 3rd Spot on my list are: Chorizo de Cebu, Sizzling Squid, and Buttered Garlic Shrimp
Don’t be surprised when I ranked this Chorizo de Cebu on the 3rd spot. It’s really flavorful, spicy and appetizing. I just eat one piece of it, though. Price – PhP 99/serving.
Sizzling Squid
I also love this Sizzling Squid, it soft and flavorful and tasted not too heavy. Price -PhP 195.
Buttered Garlic Shrimp
What made this Buttered Garlic Shrimp nice as compared from other recipes is the absence of the strong taste of lemon soda and it’s not really sweet as compared to how I cooked it at home. Price – PhP 209.
Baked Scallops
These scallops were baked and topped with cheese. Again, this dish must be eaten while still hot and the cheese is melting. Price – PhP 179.
Chili Tuna Belly
4. Sharing the 4th Spot on my list is the Chili Tuna Belly and Grilled Blue Marlin
The presentation of the Chili Tuna Belly made the dish very appetizing. It’s fried and top with chopped chili concoction. But, I still like dipping it with vinegar and soy sauce to bring out the flavor of the tuna. Price – PhP 229.
Grilled Blue Marlin
I always love blue marlin when grilled. It’s simplicity brings out the real flavor of the meat especially when dipped with vinegar, kalamansi and a little of soy sauce. Sorry, I forgot the price of this dish.
Lechon Kawali
Chikaan’s Lechon Kawali is fresh, simple and crispy. Price – PhP 175.
Ginataang Crab Meat
Honestly, it’s my first time to try Ginataang Crab Meat and it’s also nice. Price-PhP 175.
Pinakbet
What made this pinakbet nice is the freshness of its ingredients and the way it was cooked. Veggies are still crispy and sweet. Price- PhP 105.
Citrus Quencher
Completing our meal at Chikaan is this Citrus Quencher. It’s fresh and refreshing. The citrus is just perfect because it removes the taste of the dishes in your mouth especially if you are tasting plenty of dishes. Price – 195/pitcher
