Valerie Escamilla called by many as the dark horse when she grabbed the title as Masskara Queen 2016
VALERIE ESCAMILLA, 2016 MQ CANDIDATE NUMBER 6
JOHN B. LACSON COLLEGES FOUNDATION – BACOLOD
In God’s perfect time last 27th of July 1996, I, Valerie Javier Escamilla was born. I am often called by most of my friends Lerai or Lyn which may sound way too far from my real name but I actually prefer to be called such. Currently, I am 20 years old and a graduating student of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation- Bacolod taking up Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management Major in Cruise Ship Services.
The crowning moment of Valerie as the 2016 Masskara Queen
I entered college as a typical girl whose only dream was to finish the degree and never go out of my shell. Yet my school was able to see God’s gift in me and motivated me to share it. That is why even after all the hardships college had given me, fortunately, I was able to maintain my rank as the number one in the Dean’s List.I was also Model Student 2014, Ms. JBLCF-B 2015, Mutya ng NOPPSCEA 2015 4th runner-up, Ms. Solidarity 2016 1st runner-up. These experiences I had changed my view towards life. I came to understand that God has it all planned, I just have to simply trust His will and use all my achievements for His glory because at the end of the day all these capabilities I have are His mighty gifts. I was only an instrument He used and I have nothing to boast about.
I understand that being the Masskara Queen 2016 is not just simply a title but a great responsibility and a divine endowment. The challenge doesn’t stop after the pageant. Instead, a big adventure lies ahead and a significant purpose starts. But I am more than willing to share what I can to those who need my talent, capabilities, and inspiration that is why I should be the Masskara Queen 2016. If ever winning the crown is a part of God’s will, I will use my title and my heart as a Maritime Vanguard equipped by my institution (JBLCF-B) to inspire my fellow youth -not just the Bacolodnons but the youth all over the world. I, as the ambassadress, will be happily committed to spearheading them towards exceeding expectations, outdoing competitions, exceeding globally and most importantly, in between the chaos of today, we will bring hope to all nations using the smiles, we Bacolodnons are proud of.
